Back-to-school season can fill the family calendar quickly. Between school supplies, changing routines, practices and paperwork, scheduling a physical can easily get pushed to the last minute.

For eligible employees and dependents at participating Business Health Trust member employers, Nice Healthcare offers adult annual physicals, pediatric well-child exams and sports physicals.

Make time for preventive care

An annual physical can be useful even when you feel healthy. It gives you and your clinician a chance to review your medical history, check vital signs, discuss concerns and consider screenings or lab work based on your age and health risks.

Nice explains more about the purpose of checkups and other preventive services in What Every Patient Should Know About Preventive Healthcare.

Get sports physicals done before practices begin

A sports physical helps determine whether a student can safely participate in school or community athletics. Scheduling early can help families avoid a last-minute scramble before practices, tryouts or registration deadlines.

Have any required school or league forms ready for the appointment, along with information about medications, past injuries and ongoing health concerns.

How physicals with Nice work

The process generally begins with a virtual visit in the Nice app. A clinician reviews the patient’s medical history and discusses any questions or concerns. When an examination, lab work or other hands-on care is needed, Nice may schedule an in-home visit in areas where that service is available. The care team then follows up to review results and discuss next steps.

Nice offers virtual care more broadly, while in-person care is available only in select areas. Use the Nice ZIP code search tool to see which services are available where you live.

Some preventive services require another provider

Nice doesn’t administer vaccines, perform breast, pelvic or genital examinations, or provide mammography. Those services will need to be completed through an appropriate in-person provider. A Nice clinician can still discuss which screenings or immunizations may be recommended and help you plan your next steps.

Nice is an employer-sponsored benefit, so eligibility depends on your employer or health benefit program. Eligible members can open the Nice app to schedule an annual, well-child or sports physical.
