Stress & Heart Self Check In

February is American Heart Month, and it lands right when winter in the Northwest can feel heaviest: short days, cold rain, more time indoors, and a real “winter slump” in energy. This toolkit helps you talk with your team about how stress, sleep, blood pressure, movement, tobacco, and food choices all work together for heart health.

Use the printable worksheet to guide a quick personal check in, then pair it with the email templates to invite small, realistic changes. Optional sections in the email make it simple to highlight benefits like virtual primary care, physical therapy, or counseling when those are available. Share these tools during February or any time you want to connect stress support with heart health and remind employees that their well-being matters all year, not just in one month.

February is American Heart Month, and it hits right when winter in our region can feel heavy: dark mornings, cold rain, and more time indoors. That mix can raise stress levels and make it harder to keep up with habits that protect the heart.

To support you, we are sharing a simple one page worksheet, “Heart & Stress: Winter Check In” [attached/linked]. It connects everyday choices like movement, sleep, food, tobacco, and stress with heart health, then guides you to pick one or two small steps for the week.

Take a few minutes to complete the worksheet. Think about what fits your life right now: an indoor walk, a salt swap at one meal, a short breathing break, or scheduling a blood pressure check. Small steps add up, especially when winter routines feel stuck.
